Last year I was trilled to receive a Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic for Christmas. I was so excited! I could not contain myself, I had to start using it right away! What can I say, I’m a gear head, a tool junkie, and I can seem to have enough toys. Putting me in the hardware store is like putting a 5 year old in a toy shop. This year all I really want for Christmas is… nothing. Maybe just another Fein tool. When it comes to fine edge work and detailed sanding or scraping on those finecky finishing projects, this Fein tool has it all.
Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic Pros & Cons
Hands down, the best thing about the Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic is its dexterity. When you’re doing edge work in tight corners, getting the job done right can be awkward, tedious, and sometimes will not turn out the way you wanted it. Let me talk about my recent bathroom refinishing project as an example. When I got into the rounded corners of my bathroom (originally built in the 1920′s) I was surprised to see that my Fein could easily corner around the strange angles and corners. I have to admit, that the cost of the tool was a bit high. But then again I weighed the cost against the quality that I had seen when I had tested the tool and in the end decided it was worth it. Another thing I didn’t like about the tool was a few of the specs when it came to the extra items included in the start, select, and top kits. Only the top kit has one of the critical tools that is totally necessary for any job.
The Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic (top kit) is the only kit that comes with the dust extraction device. This is crucial when it comes to doing fine edge work because the sanded dust from the wood will almost always cover the area that you are working on, which is tough if you are working on sanding a fine line against a base board for example and do not want to damage the paint on your baseboard. Of course, you can use a small fan, or blow on the area, but this is a hassle. Anyway, enough complaining. The best feature of this Fein tool by far is the extra long extension cord. It has a 16.4 foot cord, which means that no matter where you are working you shouldn’t have a problem getting the job done without an extension cord. Really it could not have been said better by this happy product user. He said,
“I was told by a tradesman friend that I really should have a Fein Multimaster for trim work. He pulled his out to let me demo it. I was impressed with it’s various applications of use. The price scared me. I decided later to go for it and I bought the big kit with everything in it. I have to tell you that I have since purchased another for my crews. Everyone who uses one is hooked! DO NOT buy the cheap knock-off versions like Dremel or Rockwell (be there done that)they don’t even come close to the speed or smooth cut that the Fein wiil do”.
I have to honestly say that when it comes to high quality work in home improvement projects without the Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic, you should forget about it and leave it to a paid professional. It is really not worth messing with a Dremel, or god forbid, Black and Decker tool when you want to be a do-it-yourself-er who creates really masterful work in the home. It’s amazing how much the right quality tool can improve your ability to produce fabulous work in record time. The Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic includes everything you need to cover all the bases and complete your fine tuned projects from start to finish. Whether it’s the edging on a floor or even if you are doing some intricate sanding or brush work on a piece of fine furniture you are creating, this tool will make you feel like a pro even if you are not.
The Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic is really in a class of it’s own because it can be used by amateurs and professionals alike. The durable cast resin carrying case allows for rough treatment from workmen on the job, but also provides the style and clean look that every wive wants to see fitting nicely into a cabinet near the work bench. Another great thing about the product (and all Fein products) is that it is backed by a one year warranty. This says a lot about the quality and how well it is constructed. It will put up with a lot of heavy use over a long period of time and Fein designs it to withstand this type of heavy duty work. Why not go out and buy one today! I’m sure they will be disappearing of the racks this holiday season. Yep, for me, my favorite choice for any hard working man this holiday season is the Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic.
