Last year I was trilled to receive a Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic for Christmas. I was so excited! I could not contain myself, I had to start using it right away! Hands down, the best thing about the Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic is its dexterity. When you’re doing edge work in tight corners, getting the job done right can be awkward, tedious, and sometimes will not turn out the way you wanted it. Let me talk about my recent bathroom refinishing project as an example. When I got into the rounded corners of my bathroom (originally built in the 1920′s) I was surprised to see that my Fein could easily corner around the strange angles and corners. I have to admit, that the cost of the tool was a bit high. But then again I weighed the cost against the quality that I had seen when I had tested the tool and in the end decided it was worth it. Another thing I didn’t like about the tool was a few of the specs when it came to the extra items included in the start, select, and top kits. Only the top kit has one of the critical tools that is totally necessary for any job.
The Fein Multimaster FMM 250Q Basic (top kit) is the only kit that comes with the dust extraction device. This is crucial when it comes to doing fine edge work because the sanded dust from the wood will almost always cover the area that you are working on, which is tough if you are working on sanding a fine line against a base board for example and do not want to damage the paint on your baseboard. Of course, you can use a small fan, or blow on the area, but this is a hassle. Anyway, enough complaining. The best feature of this Fein tool by far is the extra long extension cord. It has a 16.4 foot cord, which means that no matter where you are working you shouldn’t have a problem getting the job done without an extension cord. Really it could not have been said better by this happy product user. He said,
